National Hazing Prevention Week

National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW) is an annual campaign dedicated to educating all students about hazing, promoting a culture of respect, and encouraging students to take a stand against harmful traditions. The week includes workshops, panel discussions, and social media campaigns aimed at fostering a safer С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ community. These events are open to all students and is observed each September.

September 22-26, 2025

Monday, Sept 22

10 AM – 5 PM

Centre Gallery | Center for Student Involvement  | Tampa campus
A come-and-go tabling event where students will paint their handprint on a banner to take a stand against hazing.

6 – 8 PM
SPEAKER - LIANNE KOWIAK
Oval Theater | Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life | Tampa campus
Lianne Kowiak shares her son’s story and educates students on the realities of hazing and the importance of prevention.


Tuesday, Sept 23

1 – 4 PM

MSC Atrium | Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life/ Order of Omega | Tampa campus
An interactive walkthrough with stations that challenge students to reflect on hazing, leadership, and creating change.

5 – 7 PM
LETTUCE TACO 'BOUT HAZING
Greek Office Suite | Residential Education | Tampa campus
Students can build their own tacos while engaging in casual, educational conversation about hazing prevention.


Wednesday, Sept 24

BULL MARKET
Bookstore Lawn / Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life | Tampa campus
During Bull Market, our community will work together to raise $3,000 in one day to support the Harrison Kowiak Annual Scholarship. This scholarship honors Harrison, who tragically lost his life due to hazing, and funds attendance at the Hazing Prevention Institute for individuals committed to ending hazing.

A webinar from the Hazing Prevention Network focused on shifting organizational culture and membership expectations.

10 AM – 7 PM (last group at 6 PM)
TRAVELING THROUGH THE HAZE
3rd Floor of MSC | Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life | Tampa campus
This interactive educational experience guides students through real-life hazing scenarios and campus resources.

5 – 7 PM

RecWell Breezeway | Center for Student Well-Being | Tampa campus
A tabling event focused on campus wellness resources, featuring games, giveaways, and prevention education.

MOCKTAILS - TIPS AND SIPS
USC - The Reef / Student Conduct and Ethical Development, Wellness Center, University Police | St. Petersburg campus
Student can enjoy free mocktails while learning about hazing prevention and medical amnesty.  Giveaways, community building, and a secret grand prize!
