Council Committees
The Tampa campus Judy Genshaft Honors College Student Council (JGHCSC) has four committees for students to join: Events, Volunteer, Marketing & Public Relations (MPR), and the Professional Development Committee (PDC).
Each committee is led by two co-chairs. In addition, students may serve as president, vice president, or as community and leadership coordinators.
Events Committee
The events committee plans and organizes signature events such as the Fall Picnic and Honors Got Talent, and collaborates with other departments such as the Judy Genshaft Honors College LLC in Juniper Hall to host events that bring students and staff together.
Students in this committee can expect to be an active part of the planning process, help set up before the event starts, greet people, take charge of individual tasks, and clean-up after the event ends.
Volunteer Committee
The volunteer committee works with local community partners to plan service opportunities for Honors students including working with children, animals, the elderly, local schools, and much more!
Students in this committee can expect to plan service opportunities for the college, fundraise for a local agency, reflect on service opportunities, and learn about social issues within the Tampa Bay community.
Marketing and Public Relations (MPR) Committee
The Marketing and Public Relations Committee develops clever and unique marketing campaigns for JGHCSC events. Students do not have to be a marketing/advertising major to join! No experience necessary.
Students in this committee can expect to develop digital marketing campaigns for JGHCSC events (Instagram, Photoshop, Canva, etc.). In addition, students will have the opportunity to create video projects that may be showcased on the or in the Judy Genshaft Honors College building.
Professional Development Committee (PDC)
The Professional Development Committee coordinates and plans events such as guest speaker presentations and interactive workshops, aiming to make professional development a fun and accessible experience for committee members and students in the Honors College.
Students in this committee can expect to play an integral role in designing and executing professional development events. They will also have the opportunity to enhance their professional skills through weekly meetings and workshops featuring guest speakers from organizations like the Center for Career & Professional Development and the Office of National Scholars.
